How does it work?

Simply apply ReuniteIT by LoJack ID labels and tags to your valuable property to indicate that it is registered. Then enter a brief product description with serial number and label number in the ReuniteIT by LoJack secure database.

If your item is lost or stolen, whoever finds it (whether it is the police, an airline, hotel, or an individual) can follow the label instructions to report the find online or by calling 1-800-916-2545. Using the registration record from its database, ReuniteIT by LoJack identifies the owner and arranges for the item’s return – promptly and confidentially.

When you purchase your ReuniteIT by LoJack labels you will have to create a user name and password. Your labels will automatically be activated with purchase. Once you receive the labels, log in to your secure online ReuniteIT by LoJack account and register all labeled items individually. Registration information includes the unique ID number of the ReuniteIT label, along with the item’s serial number (if it has one) and a brief physical description of the item.

Why not simply place name tags on my valuables?

Name tags are not durable and do not provide the security and convenience you get when you label your items with ReuniteIT by LoJack. ReuniteIT by LoJack labels have unique ID numbers that identify your items while protecting your personal information and privacy. All returns are made through ReuniteIT by LoJack, keeping both owner’s and finder’s information confidential, which allows both parties to remain completely anonymous. Plus, our durable labels and tags are tamper-resistant, so your items remain identifiable making it easier for them to find their way back to you.

Can ReuniteIT by LoJack labels be removed?

ReuniteIT by LoJack labels are tested and are amongst the best in the industry. ReuniteIT labels are specially engineered to be tamper-proof. They are designed to shred if removal is ever attempted. Even without its label, an item can be identified by its serial number or even a simple description, and as long as it’s registered, it can be returned.

Do ReuniteIT by LoJack labels come with embedded tracking technology?

ReuniteIT by LoJack products focus on solving the huge problem of lost property which is never returned because there’s simply no way to identify the owner. When labeled, lost items are returned most of the time by police, Good Samaritans, Lost and Found departments, and security personnel. No affordable technology exists currently on the market for labels to replicate the existing LoJack process for vehicles. The key is to use a reputable company with strong law enforcement connections to increase your chances of getting your items back.

What do I do if I lose something?

You don’t have to do anything. ReuniteIT by LoJack already has your registration information and will match your item to you. As soon as your item is reported found, we will contact you and arrange for the return. However, if you’d like, you can report the loss or post a reward on our website. Reporting the loss is not necessary, but can facilitate the return process by providing additional data for our systems to cross-reference. Taking the extra step of reporting the loss or theft will also allow you to search our database of items that have been reported found.

How do people return a found or recovered item?

The finder, whether it is the police, an airline or hotel, or an individual, can go to the www.reuniteit.com website, or call 1-800-916-2545, and simply report the information about the found item. ReuniteIT by LoJack will notify the owner of the registered item via phone, e-mail and / or fax and facilitate the return. Unless the owner and finder choose to contact each other directly, LoJack will ship the item back to the owner. The finder pays nothing, and receives a reward, which at a minimum is free ReuniteIT by LoJack labels and service.

How much does it cost to have my item returned?

There is no charge to the finder and no recovery fee. The owner pays only for shipping, which varies based on the preferred method of shipping and the type of item.

Why would someone return my things?

Most finders are Good Samaritans who want to return the found item. Lost and Found departments and police property rooms nationwide are overflowing with recovered items that have no way of finding their owners because of lack of identification. ReuniteIT by LoJack makes it easy to return recovered property to the rightful owners. And because ReuniteIT by LoJack works directly with the police, the return of your lost or stolen property is more likely.

What is the reward?

We reward all finders with a free ReuniteIT by LoJack service pack of ID labels and tags (a $20 value). Many owners also choose to offer a cash reward by filling out the Rewards field when filing a Lost or Stolen Report on our site. You aren’t required to give a reward but are welcome to do so if you wish.

What if I sell a registered item or buy a pre-owned item?

Sellers can access the website to transfer ownership. Buyers go online to create an account and accept the transfer of the registered item to his/her account. The transferred registration is valid for the remaining term of the original coverage.

What if my registration expires?

Before a registration expires, subscribers receive renewal reminders via e-mail or mail. If the subscriber chooses not to renew, ReuniteIT by LoJack guarantees that information will be maintained until registration expires, and information will be stored in the ReuniteIT by LoJack database for one year after expiration. If a former subscriber’s item is reported found after registration has expired, the person can still get the item back, for an additional charge.

What about my privacy?

ReuniteIT by LoJack is a secure system that utilizes the latest encryption technology designed to protect user’s credit card and personal information. It also enables owners to get their property back through ReuniteIT by LoJack while keeping the personal information of both finder and owner confidential and anonymous. Of course, if the owner and finder prefer to arrange for the return directly, we can put them in touch with each other.

Does ReuniteIT^TM by LoJack^® deter theft?

While we mainly facilitate the return of lost items, ReuniteIT by LoJack labels help deter theft. Police believe that thieves are less likely to steal marked property due to resale difficulties.
